Between feeding, settling and adjusting to life with a newborn, it's easy to miss documenting this special season. Professional newborn photography gives you beautiful images of your baby and family before those tiny details, sleepy cuddles and first connections become distant memories.
Newborn Sessions occur in our natural light, home studio in Torquay. This beautiful, warm, inviting space is custom designed for comfort and your family. Newborn sessions are best done when babies are between 4-14 days of age to capture all the newness and details you don't want to forget. Your baby will be the star of the show, photographed in the most natural and simple style letting your baby take the lead. The posing allows us see your baby’s beautiful little features, in a way that looks honest, pure and instinctive for your newborn.
All members of the family are invited to join in, and we take great pride in ensuring everybody looks their best, while feeling calm and relaxed throughout the session.
Most families book during pregnancy to secure availability around their due date.

LIFESTYLE Newborns
Newborn Lifestyle Sessions occur in your family home, capturing you guys, exactly how you are in your own environment. No tizz, no fuss. In fact, it’s ok if it’s messy and chaotic with other siblings, because this is the real YOU.
These sessions are very relaxed and natural; your house does not need to look like it belongs in a magazine, it just needs to have good light. I aim to capture your family as naturally as possible, and while I might sit you in some positions and give a little bit of direction, mostly you are doing your own thing.
Three Wishes Photography is a natural light photographer. We are all about capturing real moments and connections; Real. Natural. Moments. All members of the family are invited to join in, and we take great pride in ensuring everybody looks their best, while feeling calm and relaxed throughout the session.

Newborns - Studio Lifestyle
When you love the relaxed lifestyle look but want all the work taken off your hands. Simple, elegant, timeless, natural photo, the Studio Lifestyle session is the best of both worlds. A beautifully styled bed to snuggle up on. To cuddle up on. For toddlers to jump on. To create beautiful images on. Images that will LOOK like you’re in your own home, even when you’re not.
Not everyone’s house is ‘session worthy’. That doesn’t necessarily mean you don’t have a nice house, I mean my house is nice, but it is not particularly styled, not all my furniture matches, I have fingerprints on the walls and… well, I have kids! Throw in a newborn, having just returned from hospital, the sleepless nights and the endless feeding, you don’t want to have to add in cleaning your house for your photographer to arrive.
The timing of a Studio Lifestyle session is more flexible. Whilst there are definite benefits to photographing baby when they are around the 7-14 day mark in order to get their sleepiness, their curliness and their newness, there are equally benefits to waiting until they are a little older. When they are more awake, more alert, making great eye contact and engaging with their family. Either way, we will capture all the details you don't want to forget. As with the posed newborn session your baby will be the star of the show, photographed in the most natural and simple style letting your baby take the lead. The posing allows us see your baby’s beautiful little features, in a way that looks honest, pure and instinctive for your newborn.
All collections include your session time, use of my beautiful dresses that I have hand selected as they photograph so well, image retouching, digital files and professional prints beautifully presented in a keepsake box. Because I am such a big believer in printing your memories, there will be an opportunity for you to add on products such as fine art albums and beautiful wall art prints, all of which can be viewed in our studio.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
When should I book my newborn session?
Ideally your newborn session is booked while you’re still pregnant. I book you in according to your due date and when baby arrives, we schedule your session in for a date and time that works for both of us.
What age is best for newborn photos?
Newborn sessions are best done when baby is around 1-2 weeks of age. While they definitely can be done later than this, babies tend to be more awake and alert and are a little less curly
What if my baby won't sleep?
Not all babies are sleepy for their session and that is completely ok. I have been working with newborns for over 10 years and have lots of tips and tricks up my sleeve to help your babe be calm, content and settled. We take sessions at your babies pace, if they need a feed, they feed. If they need a cuddle, then they are held. All newborn sessions are baby led.
Can siblings be included?
ABSOLUTELY! All newborn sessions (except for Mini Newborn Sessions) include all the immediate family, parents and siblings are essential!
Worried about how the older kids behave or how they will have the patience? Don’t be! I don’t need a cooperative toddler or a compliant bigger kid, I just need moments where they show some interest in the babe and I take advantage of that. I don’t force anything! I also have toys and chocolates on hand in the studio.Do you provide wraps and props?
I have wraps of all colours, patterns and textures on hand in the studio and available for use. Personally, I don’t use props, but everything else you need for babe will be supplied.What should parents wear?
When you book with Three Wishes Photography I provide detailed information about how to prepare and what to expect from your newborn session. Included in that are suggestions around what to wear and what to dress the kids in.
I have a client wardrobe for mum to access with beautiful flowy dresses that photograph beautifully and fit a bump.How long does a newborn session take?
Generally newborn sessions last around 1.5-2hrs. Sometimes more, sometimes less. It really depends how often baby needs to feed and how many cuddles they need.Is newborn photography safe?
Newborn safety is my number one priority. I work in a baby led way, learning how baby naturally likes to position itself and I don’t use positions or poses that are dangerous or uncomfortable to babe.
