When you book your family session, I'll send you some guidance on what to wear, what photographs well together and what to avoid. I'm also always happy to talk through your options with you before your session. For mums, I have a client wardrobe with a selection of beautiful gowns available to use if you'd like.

Oh my goodness, please don't worry about this! I haven't met a child yet that I haven't been able to win over. I keep family sessions fun — we play games, have tickles, make silly jokes and I force nothing. I encourage you to play with your kids just as you would at home, while I capture you all exactly as you are. Most of the time, the kids don't even realise they're cooperating!

Yes! You're always welcome to choose somewhere of your own, especially if there's a place that means something to your family. Otherwise, I'll send you my location guide before your session, with photos and information about some of my favourite places to photograph around Geelong, Torquay, the Bellarine and the Surf Coast. They're all tried and tested, so you don't need to worry about finding the perfect spot yourself.

We reschedule. No questions asked. Rain and strong winds aren't ideal for outdoor family sessions, so we'll simply find another date and time that works for everyone.

Please do! I have a fur baby too, and I know they're every bit as much a part of the family as anyone else. If you'd like your dog included in your session, I'm more than happy to accommodate them.

For outdoor sessions, the most beautiful light is usually in the hour after sunrise or before sunset — with sunset being my favourite. In summer this can mean a later start time, particularly for families with little ones, so I'm always happy to work with you to find the best balance between beautiful light and what works for your family.

• Some locations also work beautifully earlier in the day, so if a sunset session isn't going to work for your family, we can look at other options.
